About me

I’m a fully qualified medical herbalist and founder of Wild Roots Herbal Medicine, where my goal is to help people move towards health and wellbeing through plant-based medicine. I have been interested in using plants as medicine for as long as I can remember, but my journey to becoming a herbalist has been long, with many twists and turns along the way!

Before retraining in herbal medicine, I worked for many years at Durham University researching how babies sleep, and co-founded the evidence-based public information website BASIS. My background in anthropology (the social, cultural and evolutionary study of humans) has given me a deep understanding of how humans live as part of the natural world.

My five years of training in herbal medicine covered anatomy, physiology, phytochemistry, clinical examination and diagnostic skills, as well as herbal therapeutics. I spent 500 hours in online and face-to-face herbal clinics, training with patients under the supervision of experienced herbalists. I graduated with a Diploma in Herbal Medicine with Distinction, and am a member of NIMH, the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, which assures high professional and ethical standards in practice.

Plants have always provided medicine, but for many of us modern society has lost sight of this. I firmly believe that humans - as part of nature - have so much to gain from remembering our own Wild Roots, and reconnecting with plants not only as medicines, but as our neighbours and allies. As we move through the 21st century I feel this reconnection is ever more critical, so as a herbalist I feel privileged to play a role in bringing plants and people together again.

I look forward to welcoming you to my Practice!
